I got shingles at 32.

Not from a virus. From pushing so hard for so long that my body literally forced me to stop when my mind wouldn't. I was doing everything right on paper. Successful career. Beautiful home. Marriage that looked perfect on Instagram. And underneath all of it? I was falling apart.

Here's what no one tells you about burnout: it doesn't happen to women who don't care. It happens to women who care too much, in all the wrong directions.

The Data Behind the Exhaustion

According to recent research, 82% of employees are at risk of burnout this year. But here's what hit me: 43% of women in leadership report burnout compared to just 31% of men in the same positions. Women are also experiencing extreme stress at 93% compared to 88% of men. We're not imagining it. We're not being dramatic. The numbers prove what we feel in our bodies every single day.

The World Health Organization defines burnout as overwhelming physical or emotional exhaustion, feelings of cynicism or detachment, and a sense of ineffectiveness. Sound familiar?
